A The Boring Company é uma empresa de infraestruturas e de construção de túneis fundada por Elon Musk, fundador da Tesla e da SpaceX, no final de 2016 depois de mencionar a ideia de construir túneis na sua conta do Twitter. Musk citou as dificuldades e limitações com a atual rede de transportes como inspiração para o projeto.
The Boring Company cria túneis de transporte e serviços públicos seguros, rápidos e de baixo custo. A missão: resolver o trânsito, permitir o transporte rápido ponto a ponto e transformar as cidades.
Para resolver o problema do tráfego destruidor de almas, as estradas devem ser 3D, o que significa que são necessários carros que voam ou túneis. Ao contrário dos carros voadores, os túneis são à prova de tempestades, fora de vista e não caem na cabeça das pessoas.
Os túneis minimizam o uso de terrenos de superfície valiosos e não entram em conflito com os sistemas de transporte existentes. Uma grande rede de túneis pode aliviar o trânsito em qualquer cidade.
